Chris Smith MP, who summarised the concerns of the Creative Industries Task Force. Janice Kirkpatrick then described how her Glasgow-based design consultancy came into being and outlined her view of the best approach to encouraging creative talent. Jez San, founder of both a computer game company and a hi-tech intellectual property company, addressed the obstacles to growth within that sector. Charles Leadbeater provided an overview of the role of the ‘New Independents’ within the cultural sector, and of the reasons why they matter.
