A seminar held on 29th October 1998 – the sixth seminar in the Equality and the Modern Economy series, John Kay suggested that in a modern society, business economics was the best starting-point for discussing issues of equality and inequality. Such a discussion ought to encompass such matters as intellectual property legislation and competition policy. Ian Hargreaves stressed the importance of clear actionable values and of embedding these values across the whole of policy.
